Information about the Course
Please bring the following documents on the first day of class at the institute:
- Proof of identity (e.g., card for persons entitled to asylum, passport, identity card)
- Appointment card from the ÖIF (alternatively: confirmation of your course registration)
When you register for a course, you will receive an appointment card from the ÖIF. Note that a course registration is binding. What does it mean?
- If you are unable to attend the course on the first day without an excuse or without providing a reason beforehand, you can no longer attend the course. This means that you will be deregistered from the course without excuse. We therefore strongly recommend that you be present on the first day of the course.
- Regular and active attendance is important. Missing class without a valid excuse equals an unexcused absence. The required minimum attendance in class is 80 %. Less attendance means failing the entire course.
- Any course withdrawal will count as course attendance. Repeats at a course level are only allowed once.
- If you receive social benefits (AMS, social services department, etc.) and do not attend the classes without being excused, you may be subject to cuts – this means that you will receive less or no money at all.
What can you do if you miss single class sessions or need to deregister from the course?
- If you miss a class because you are sick, you will be excused, provided you submit a sick note or doctor’s note directly to the course institute.
- Are you no longer able to attend the course because, for example, you have been ill for a long time or have started work? Then go to the course institute and sign out there with an excuse. You will need to provide confirmation of this (e.g., doctor’s confirmation or confirmation of work).
- You are already registered for a course but cannot attend the course after all? Please note that a course registration is binding. Up to 10 working days before the start of the course, course participation can still be cancelled. An excused cancellation before the start of the course, or during the course, is possible in justified cases. For an excused cancellation, appropriate proof (e.g. confirmation of employment or confirmation of sick leave) must be presented in any case. Please contact the Integration Center or the course institute directly.
- Every course cancellation counts as a course attendance. Repeats at a course level are only possible once.
It is very important for your integration process that you learn German as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about the start of the course, course times, or child supervision offered in your course, please contact the course institute directly. If you have further questions, you can also contact the ÖIF office at any time.
